I have been meaning to capture images of this plant at this stage of the season.  I am not aware of any that bloom earlier.  The bloom is down inside.  It is like Jack-in-the Pulpit in that regard.  Somehow, the plant generates enough heat to melt the snow above it.  The snow was only a couple days old when I was there so it had not melted much of it.
