Allium Giganteum

 

Allium gigantum

Allium gigantum, CKA Giant Onion, makes, in my opinion, a beautiful addition to landscaping.  It comes to us from Asia.  It is the tallest ornamental, almost 5'.  This sample comes from Kingwood Center in June of 2006.

This species has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

This the one I consider second best to the one I showed previously.  It looks like it has cotton in the circle.  I tried to blow it out before each shot and it would not leave so I decided on this one to leave it as the most accurate representation of the mineral.

Stilbite

Stilbite is a mineral which can be used in petroleum refining.  There are two types: Sodium and Calcium Stilbite.  Ca Stilbite is by far the most common.

 It manifests several colors including: colorless or white, yellow, brown pink, salmon, orange, red, green, blue or black.

Its formula is NaCa 4(Si27Al9)O72·28(H2O)
