Family Remembrances

These remembrances come from about this time of year in 2010, 7 years ago.

Craig and Shelly, Mark and Abigale
These are from Yellow-Springs, where we met for a picnic.

Carrie and Family
They are, from left to right, Carrie, Evie, Reed, Andrew, and Caleb.  The kids could run and play and did.

Mark and Shelly

I think that Shelly still misses him.

Non Fruiting Apple Tree

Non Fruiting Apple Tree
I think this kind of blooming tree is of or related to the apple and the rose.  We have them at Gorman but they are not as large.  None of them have fruit.  This plant grows on the Keith Kisling farm.

Non Fruiting Apple Tree
It grows in his pasture.

Does anyone agree or disagree.  It is the conclusion to which I have come.  Help!

Creeping Buttercup

Creeping Buttercup
This plant is not indigenous to this part of the world according to Wikipedia.  It has been called invasive but I have not heard it described thusly at Gorman.  It is poisonous and even the sap can cause skin blistering.  The poison is rendered impotent as it dries with hay so the danger to cattle is nil.  Cattle avoid eating it green because of the undesirable, to them, taste.

Lily Of The Valley

Lily Of The Valley
This plant used to grow along the south side of my house while I was growing up.  I had to mow around it.  I learned from Wikipedia that it grows from an extensive underground network called rhizomes.  The white components of the flower are called "tepals" of which there are six.  The fruit is supposed to be a red-orange berry.  I am unaware of ever seeing it.

I would like to remember to go back to look for those berries this season.
