Day with Family

Chad and Loudon
I had a great day with Chad, Loudon, Lucas and Odell the other day.

Odell and Lucas
Decker's Lexington, OH
We went for a late breakfast to Decker's in Lexington.  Decker's is closing on Jan. 12, 2014.

Decker's Lexington, OH
Carol thinks it opened in 1986 or 1987.  It is for sale and negotiations are ongoing.

I thought it would be interesting to interview the owner and give a little report.  I need to be nudged off the fence on that idea.  If anyone has an interest, please nudge me.

Merry Christmas 2013

Merry Christmas 2013

You will be busy this morning with family and friends.  We hope that it has been a good year for you.  The little ones will be up early today.  Hope that Dad and Mom got to bed early last night.

We are thankful for the warm place to live and the food we have to eat.  Life is short and we are thankful for each day that we are given.  Each one gives us a chance to fulfill our destiny or to do what we want to do.  We get to make choices and live them out to fruition.  Hopefully, we recognize the bad choices and learn from them.  We hope to do better next time.

This has been a busy year for me, photographically.   I am thankful for the opportunity to show others the world around them.  My part is only a small part.  I am happy that I can do it and say with Edward Weston,  “My work has vitality because I have helped, done my part in revealing to others the living world around them.”  I added over 2000 images to my catalog this year.  Some of them are worth showing and I have tried to do that.  I photographed two species of odonata here-to-fore unrecorded in Richland County, OH.  I must say it was great learning experience for me.  I had not photographed damselflies much previous to this year.  The dragonfly, Slatey Skimmer, is one I had first photographed back in 2009.  This was the first year during which I photographed the Citrine Forktail Damselfly.

I have created a series of prints titled, "A Vernal Pool."  It will be displayed at Gorman Nature Center after the holidays.

I did not care, last year, whether I lived until Christmas this year but it appears that I have.  It gives me the opportunity to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
