Hypocrea Sulphuria

Hypocrea Sulphuria
This mushroom grows on an American Elm Log.  The yellow part goes away in the winter but the black undergrowth remains year around.  I am revising my thoughts after submitting it to Mushroom Observer.

Hypocrea Sulphuria
It seems to be spreading.

Hypocrea Sulphuria
I have watched it for nearly a year.  This seems to be the extent of its growth.

Humid Weather

Water Lily
I keep my camera in the basement and when I take it out in the humid weather the lenses fog.  I have read that photographers used to smear Vaseline on their lenses to create a "beauty blur."  I decided to try it on a flower with the condensed moisture.

Water Lily
I think I like the "beauty blur" better.  What do you think?

New Equipment Transport

Old Cart

The old cart broke for the last time recenty.  They no longer make replacement parts or the cart itself.

Sienna Utility Wagon
I tried this little wagon out and decided that it was not strongly built enough for me.  It did have the advantage of fold-ability and lightness.  I really wanted it to work.

Groundwork Garden Dump Cart
I finally chose this one.  It has a weight carrying rating far above my needs, and pneumatic tires.  I have made a few modifications thanks to friends and family:  Lucas Eicher, Loudon Eicher, Mike Gates.  The fat tires go over roots like a breeze.  It no longer poses a risk of dumping and the handle stays in a clip so I needn't bend down to pick it up.  It has the space for my gear and available parts.

Amber-winged Spreadwing

Amber-winged Spreadwing
The spreadwing is one of the larger damselflies.  I find that I must still look carefully or I miss them.

Amber-winged Spreadwing
I find that I forget from year to year what I have photographed.  I thought this to be a new one and I find I have 10 images of this species cataloged.  This specimen was cooperative, in that it stayed put while I worked around it to get the dorsal view.
