The creature lived in this bowl and looked a little like a squid. It supposedly had eyes and short tentacles.
The depression in the bottom of the bowl was called a siptal neck according to Wikipedia. It was a tube which connected the current living space to previous ones. Much like a snail, as it grows, it moves on and builds a new larger living space. Wikipedia has an artists conception of how this creature might have
appeared.
