This is a lovely flower that Carol grew here at home in September of 2005.  I wish I had recorded more information about it.  I does not seem to be known by that name on the web.

This is the third of the newer herkimer diamonds.  If not the best, it is second best.

You might notice the aura around it.  I have been noticing this and have decided that it is not chromatic aberration.  I have used Camera Raw to try to eliminate it unsuccessfully.  I have decided that it is less objectionable in B&W, which this image is.  It is available in color and inverted as well.

I think the aura is caused by the prismatic properties of the crystal.  If you find it objectionable, I will clone it out for you.  I have done so on some of the captures.
