Feldspar Panorama

Feldspar Panorama 1
This little rock is lying here on my desk.  It is one that I bought from Dan & Pam.  It is less than two inches long.  I have been playing with the concept of making macro panoramas.  This was the first usable output I gleaned from a 240 shot panorama using Helicon Focus for deep DOF (depth of field).  I was really happy to achieve this.  I used a Sigma 105 mm f/2.8 lens with a Mamya 50 mm f/1.7 lens mounted on the main lens in reverse.  The Mamya lens functions as a closeup lens.  It gives what I consider to be extreme closeups.  I much prefer the output of this setup to using a microscope.  I think this lens, the Mamya, is probably a quality lens.  I also consider the Sigma 105 to be the sharpest lens I own.  It took long time for the computer to run these and stitch them into the panorama.  I had to do other things during each run because it took so long.  I used Photoshop CS5 for the stitching.  I am well pleased with the way this new, to me, version of Photoshop processes the panorama.

Feldspar Panorama 2
This shot is actually the complete series that I shot.  I kept playing with the series and finally got it to do the entire series.  First, this is a testament to the value of keeping the raw files originally captured by the camera, (Canon 50D).  I went back and processed  each series again, and did a little cropping based on how CS5 used each Helicon Focus series in the stitching.  I eliminated parts of each component which were not used.  I still did not get what I wanted.  I then tried the different modes available in Photo-merge.  The mode which is titled "Interactive Layout" turned out this one using all the seven Helicon Focus produced images.  It is an extremely large file with lots of pixels.  This means that it can be printed quite large.  I wish I had a larger printer.  I really like looking at the one I printed at 8x26 inches.  The fractures, tones, and textures are so interesting.  The lines available in the rock are also quite dynamic.  I thought that this was the most interesting part of this rock.  There is another part which I plan on doing as I have time.  I think that it also will be captivating.

End of an era in my life.

The traveling artist!
I have made a decision which has been difficult!  I enjoyed my "time on the road" but I have come to the end of that part of my life.  I am not giving up photography!  I am moving forward with a marketing strategy which involves sales on the internet.  I love photography and want to continue shooting the things that I love.

I have put my show setup up for sale:

I have a Pro Panel setup for a 10’ x10’ display space for sale.  This includes:  six (6) 38.5” x 7’ Pro Panels and two (2) 30” x 7’ Pro Panels, one (1) 44” Print Bin, one (1) 12”x12” Outdoor Pro Pedestal.  The color of all these items is Dark Grey.  I have also, a white 10’ x 10’ Caravan tent, Nurit 2085 Card Payment Terminal, and One (1) Vector Power Inverter 1000 watt (2000 watt peak).

If you or anyone you know is interested in all or part of this equipment, you can contact me at larry@larrysimages.com or by phone at 419-565-5207.  I live in Mansfield, OH.
