Undermined Hickory Tree |
Nothing is static in nature. This tree, I think it is a hickory, has been undermined by the stream washing the soil from around its roots, down stream. It is already leaning and will probably fall soon. All it needs is lots of wind, more heavy rain or both.
Its trunk will be added to the the trash blocking the flow of the stream. I have heard GNC criticized because fallen trees are not removed. I think that the philosophy has been that they rot and contribute nutrients to growth of the current living trees and plants, not to mention insects, spiders, fungi, bacteria and lichen. It looks untidy, but nature works that way.
