There is order in the world. These parents are caring for their young. It seems to me that people talk about seeing the young of a species even if it is the goose. This image survived the cuts for that reason.
I don't know where the nest was located. It might have been at the adjacent pond on private property. When the small fry can walk they can come through the fence and swim in the Gorman pond. I think they only come out when there is the least likelihood of their being disturbed since the young can't yet fly to safety.
