Eastern Pondhawk Female

Eastern Pondhawk Female
I became fascinated by a certain spot along the shore of the Frog Pond this past spring.  I had shot a new bird, to me, there.  Later, I noticed that the dragonflies were busy there also.  They were ovipositing, laying eggs.  When they do that, they slow down their flying speed.  It gave me the opportunity to take my shot.  I used my Sigma 50 - 500 mm lens, and Canon 7D.  I set the auto focus to continuous.  I set Shutter Priority to 1/1000th.  The camera chose f/5.6.  This was the result.  I have not found this type of shot easy.  It is the only one I have this season.  I had lots of throwaways.
