I need some suggestions!

Gorman Nature Center

I went to Gorman the other morning when we had heavy fog.  I, somehow, did not have my head or my heart in the game that day, as I have decided afterward.  I came home thinking that I had captured a masterpiece.  Ever felt that way?  Something kept nagging me about it.  The nagging went on for days and continues until today as I write.

I had the elements of a "masterpiece" with which to work, but I don't think that I created one.  I am too closely involved to know.  Maybe some day soon I will be able to look at it objectively.  I know that you can look objectively.  I would like your opinion.

I have fears that I have nothing much going on in the left of the picture.  The light and the trees on the right are saying lots.  The vertical motion between the sun and its reflection gives a certain peace.  I just wish that I had considered things more carefully at the time.  We had heavy fog again this morning and I went thinking that I would have a chance at a redo this but alas, I could not see the sun through the clouds and fog.

I have considered different crops.

Gorman Nature Center
This is a crop of the first, cutting out most of the left.

I guess that I like the light in the first crop better than the second.  I like the composition in the second better.  Alas, It was a marvelous opportunity squandered for ever!

Gorman Nature Center with Catkin
I even added a Sandbar Willow Catkin which grows around the pond.  I still like the addition, several days later.  Initially, Carol did not like the addition.  I still like it.  The light on it seems to work well and it does add an authentic something on the left.

I think that I had this to do over, which I never may, I would try to find a lower perspective and make sure that the composition is balanced.  Please feel free to comment.
