Getting Started II

Camera Setup with Stackshot
The use of microscope objectives precludes the use of Camranger which uses the auto focus function of the lens.  It also means you have no f/stop control.  I shifted to using Stackshot to collect my image stacks.

The mounting of microscope objectives in front of a lens and mounting a non-Canon mount lens to a Canon Camera requires MANY adapter rings.  I soon or maybe not so soon learned that there is no camera store which stocks many if any of these.  Ebay is the probably the place there most of the rings are for sale.

Problem solved, right?  Wrong. The sellers if these adaptor rings on the site are mostly out of country.  Shipping involves customs and slow boats.  Buy in country where ever possible even if the cost is slightly higher.  The hidden cost of the rings from out of country is expedited shipping.  It could cut down your wait time to a week.  I waited two or more months for my first ones.

Just any objective, lens and camera combination usually does not give the quality I desired.  We'll talk about that another time.
