Marine Polyp

Marine Polyp
Now that we can make images at 8x, let's look at a marine polyp.  You may remember previous images of it but not like this.

Marine Polyps
This bivalve shell probably lay on the bottom after its inhabitant died.  Its surface became inhabited by what could be coral polyps.  These little animals secrete calcium carbonate and form a little home.

Marine Polyps
They lived on the inside as well as the outside of the shell.

Marine Polyp
I am excited to see the inside of their home.
