Plunge Pool

The stream is dry these days.  It is like a wide highway.  While walking it, I came upon this pool of water.  It was deep, I estimate waist high on me.  I used a limb to measure it.  It is full of minnows.  It was created by the water flowing over the log jam.  The turbulence created, washed the gravel out and down stream.  The gravel in this stream seems deep.  I have wondered where all the sand comes from.  That seems to be my answer.
