The Long-jawed Orb Weaver

Long-jawed Orb Weaver
Part of the joy of sitting by the vernal pool is watching for spiders, this one included.  It is difficult for me to get a good idea of how it looks because the jaws protrude far below the legs.  The eye, probably eyes, are above the legs.  It builds its web in the grass and reeds surrounding the pool.  I watched this one eat its web and eventually an insect caught in it.  At one point, I thought that it might be rebuilding its web.  I hope for more opportunities to photograph this arachnoid.
