Spring Mating

Male Cardinal
The male cardinals are singing their mating songs these days.  I love hearing them.  This one was singing "that song" when I photographed it.

The spring is a great time to photograph birds because the leaves are yet to emerge.  This is a special time of year to me.  It seems to me that the birds are so intent on mating that they are less aware of me and my camera.

The ideal shot of a cardinal, in my opinion, includes the bird having the crest raised.  I think that I would like to be more on level with the bird if I could.  That is not usually possible.
