Blue Flag Iris

Blue Flag Iris
I think that the Blue Flag Irises came out a little early this year, maybe because of the recent hot weather.  They are as beautiful, as ever!  I enjoy photographing them.  I have noticed the the background is important to a successful image.  This one was captured using flash.

On a cloudy day, the light is soft and it makes an image with saturated colors.

This is my favorite so far!  The lens was cold from being in the basement.  When I took it out, if fogged up and provided a soft focus type image.  I showed this one to my wife, Carol.  She said that it is beautiful but the colors are wrong for her decorating scheme.  I don't understand!  I may make a print for my office.  Here, the iris is in the shade and the sun is on the pond behind.

This is a shot from June, 2008.  When Carol saw this one, she wanted a print immediately.  In this one, the iris is in the sun and the pond, behind, is in the shade.  This one has sold often so others must see it as Carol does!
