Tractors

Allis Chalmers WD
In 1955, I drove one of these for my father.  Actually it was from several years before 1955 until several years after,  This is almost a standard configuration for the tractor.  It was a 2 to 3 plow tractor.  I think that the bottoms were 14" unlike today.  Actually, there is little plowing done today.

I happened to be at the Bellville Street Fair the other day and saw a WD configured to pull a sled at a contest.

This tractor has been modified to compete at a tractor pull.

It has larger rear tires and bars to prevent it from overturning.

Notice that the standard configuration tractor on the left has rear tires much smaller than the one on the right.

It has a different air filter and intake.  It has a chrome alternator.  The original had a generator.  The exhaust pipe is larger and, no doubt, chrome plated.  The battery case has been removed.

Back then, styling, grill, hood and gas tank, was beginning to show.  This shape showed itself on the WC before the WD.
