Wurtzite



Wurtzite
 This sample comes to us from Negley, Ohio.  The wurtzite is the dark substance in the upper center.

Wurtzite 
 Wikipedia says, "Wurtzite is a zinc iron Sulfide mineral.  (Zn,Fe)S.  It occurs in hydrothermal deposites associated with, sphalerite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, barite and marcasite. 

Wurtzite
It was named for French chemist Charles-Adolphe Wurtz.  It was first described in 1861 for an occurrence in the San José Mine, Oruro City, Cercado Province, Oruro Department, Bolivia, The type locality.
