Cirsium discolor Field Thistle

Field thistle is a North American Species in the thistle tribe within the sunflower family.  It is a biennial or perennial herb up to 78.5" tall producing a large taproot.  Butterflies like it. It is used as a component of some North American prairie and wildflower meadow restoration mixes.
