Rattlesnake Master Silhouette |
This from Gorman Nature Center in November of 2005.
RM is an herbaceous perineal plant whose name comes from the fact that some native
Americans used its root as an antidote for rattlesnake venom.
It is native to the tall grass prairies of central and Eastern North America from Minnesota to Ohio and south to Texas and Florida. Its scientific name is Eryngium yuccifolium and is also known as button eryngo, button snake-root.
I have found it interesting over the years as it has provided me unique images.
