This tree grows in front of my house.  I planted it by myself in more ambitious days when the old one died.  It is beautiful this year.

It has taken some time for the color to develop on the bracts.  I made this capture on May 13th.

I've been keeping a sprig in the house so it won't develop without my knowledge.  I'm thinking that it is about time for the flowers to open.  I saw a little red insect or spider running around on it this morning.  I currently have a camera set up to capture the little guy, so far, without luck.  It was fast and tiny.  I could see only its color and motion.
