Green Adventurine |
I found this among my purchased samples. It appears to have been run through a rock tumbler.
Green Adventurine was produced by the Fenton Art Glass
Company in 1964 to 1968. It is blue and/
or green frit over a milk glass base.
Frit is ground glass.
We visited the company while riding GOBA in 2001. At the time of the visit I was mostly an uninitiated
person in the concept of Volcanoes. Volcanoes make glass. Fenton makes
glass. They have taken it to a level of
art.
A zoom into this image shows the fine granularity of the
sample. I am trying to remember that when molten rock cools quickly there is no time for the formation of large crystals.
