Halloween gives me an excuse to show a beetle I found in the pond recently.

I noticed they had good vision because they started to disperse as soon as my approach was about six feet. They were very active. (The Video is at the bottom.)

I suppose they evoke a thought of PacMan or a Bill Cosby character. As you can see, they do some walking at which activity they are slow. Conversely, they swim rapidly.

Their "feet" are really flippers.
I think they may be able to roll their eyes from top to bottom when they need to see in that direction.

think you need to get a good look at the face to gain a sense of the
creature. This is where it gets creepy. It has a face only a mother

Or maybe a mother fish.
