Mourning Cloak Butterfly

Mourning Cloak Butterfly
This is the first image in my collection of the Mourning Cloak.  Their life cycle goes through trees not meadow plants.  They do not visit flowers and drink nectar.  Instead, they feed on fecal matter.  This one was enjoying the warmth from the pea sized gravel and the sun.  It was feeding also.  It was so close, I wished to move back but was afraid I might frighten it.
