We have many of these this year at Gorman.  I have seen many on the stream, too.  I never cease to be amazed at their uncanny ability to walk and even run on water.  They have numerous aka's:  water striders, water bugs, magic bugs, pond skaters, skaters, skimmers, water scooters, water skaters, water skeeters, water skimmers, water skippers, water spiders, or Jesus bugs.  You see how the surface elasticity of the water supports their weight in this shot.

I was doubtful about this being an insect when I started to write this.  I looked in up on Wikipedia and found that, indeed, they are.
