| Shiitake Mushroom |
I seem obsessed with mushrooms to the extent that I buy them at the supermarket to photograph. This is the Shiitake. It is an Asian mushroom being cultivated in the USA for consumption. The spores are being sold to private growers and it is only a matter of time until it escapes into the wild. It grows on rotting wood.

The lower edge of the gills is ragged. They attach evenly to the stalk.
