Mini Puffball

Mini Puffball
Sometimes the only thing not moving with the breezes is the puffball mushroom.  This one was captured on a cloudy day with diffuse light.  I found the light uninspiring.  I wanted to see details of the surface.

Mini Puffball
I decided that we needed to create our own "interesting" light.

Mini Puffball
This is a mature one with the pore open on top.  Spores are emitted from that opening.  It is one of our lifeforms which reproduce in a sexless mode.

Camera Setup for Mini Puffball
One of the flashes, as you can see, is set three to four times the distance from the subject compared to the other.  The closer the light the brighter.  This gives about a 1.5 stop variation in the lighting, providing interest.
