Red-winged Blackbird

Red-winged Blackbird Female
They are here so long during the summer that I cease to hear them.  They are just a part of Gorman.  When they leave suddenly in the autumn, I have to stop and think what is missing from the bouquet of sound.

Red-winged Blackbird Male
I see them perched on the old cattails.  I thought maybe they were eating seeds but someone pointed out that they were using the fluff to build nests.  Either way, I like them and their sounds.
