These frogs can be heard on some days and not on others. I don't know if the reason is the time of day that I am there or the weather or what. They can be distinguished from the Green Frog visually by the absence of the dorsolateral ridge. This ridge appears as a skin fold running from behind the typmanium (ear) down each side of the back. The Bullfrog does not exhibit this ridge. They also emit a distinctive sound. I have never observed them making that sound. I would like a shot of one in the process. I am learning to imitate their sound. I have no recordings to share of myself but I do have one of a Bullfrog
