Photographing Elemental Silver II

Other Considerations

Elemental Silver
This is another part of the sample which is not the worst result I achieved.  You may notice the the lower, left of center, portion is extremely bright.  The worst one, I chose not to show but it glistened in that location.

You may notice that I have the bright area toned down here.  I have been finding "dodge & burn" helpful.

I'm sure you all know about "dodge and burn."  In the days of film you could burn an area by making a card with a hole in it.  You could block the enlarger's light from most of the paper while moving the hole around on the area you wanted burned, made darker.  When you had darkened the bright area you remove your card and let light hit all the paper.  Conversely, you could lighten an area by making a round "lollypop" card on at straw and during exposure you would move it around depriving the paper of light from the enlarger on the areas you wanted darker.  Photoshop make this process much easier.
