Beechcraft model 17 Staggerwing |
It first flew in 1932. The staggerwing refers to the positioning of upper wing ahead of the lower wing contrary to usual practice of the time. It was used by the private sector and USAAF. It's speed made it popular with with air racers in the 30s between the wars when aircraft technology advanced by leaps and bounds.
It was succeeded by the Beechcraft Bonanza of which I owned a "line" model. I never really was able to fly it because I became dizzy.
