Stibnite



Stibnite
This sample is from Puhipuhi, Northland, North Island, New Zealand.

The dark needle-like crystals are stibnite.

It is also known as Antimonite, Sb2S3: and Antimony Trisulfide

Stibnite
 It has been used in cosmetics since 3000 BC.  It is a component of modern safety matches.  Large deposits of it are rare.
