Cuprite

Cuprite
Cuprite is an oxide mineral, Cu2O.  You and I used to think that copper oxidized to green.  This oxide is deep red according to Wikipedia.  Wikipedia also states that it is a minor ore of Copper.  It does not say whether it is "minor" because of its availability or lack there-of.

Cuprite
"Pink" is not listed as a color of Cuprite's crystals but the dark red crystals around the pink are definitely Cuprite.  It can be used as a gem if it possesses the required clarity.  It that instance it is called Ruby Copper.  It lacks the hardness of Ruby, making it less desirable.
