I found these ants active one morning and was surprised.  Insects usually wait until it is warmer to come out.  It seems these ants come out in cooler temperatures than other insects.

I went back a few days later for another effort.  I wanted to make images to help me with ID.

They confirmed my ID.  I have become aware of other mounds along my trial where the same ants work.
