Not Food Pornoghraphy!

Flint Quartz Igneous
I decided, yesterday, that an interesting project would be to try to convey the essence of a rock.  This is my first selection.  I probably obtained it at the Richland Lithic and Lapidary Society.

It measures about two inches from end to end.  If I handed it to you, you would look at it and say, "That's pretty."  Would you really see it or for that matter really feel it?  It certainly is colorful!  Would it affect your emotions?

I find myself being gripped emotionally by the rock.  You always knew I was a little nuts didn't you?  I wish I could have been there the day it was formed.  I feel that I see a lot of what might have happened while I am looking at it.

I found myself wanting to use the word pornography when discussing it but the only usage I could find not related to sex was "food pornography."  It is, supposedly, imagery of food that makes one wish to eat it.  That doesn't exactly apply here.

Another concept I came across was "expanded understanding."  Maybe that is closer to what I intend here.  As you might imagine, the "expanding" will hopefully come through macro photography.

I am afraid that I probably ask more questions than I answer when I look at it.  Maybe we can come to some answers together.

Scarlet Tulip Conclusion

Scarlet Tulips
The time lapse video is finally finished!  It took three days to shoot.  The plant squirmed around, testing my composition.  I did not know what, exactly, to expect from it.  I just followed it.

I have compiled images captured during the entire period into one video.  It is titled "final video" and is at the bottom of the page.  Hope you enjoy.

WANTED: Fraudulent Weather Forecaster

WANTED:  Fraudulent Weather Forecaster
This rodent is wanted in connection with fraudulent weather forecasts predicting an early spring!  The clear skies  or cloudy skies on a given day have absolutely nothing to do with the beginning of spring.  Your calendar is the best source of information on this subject.

WANTED:  Fraudulent Weather Forecaster
This rodent should be considered dangerous.  Do not believe his/her prognostications under any circumstances!  If you spot this creature, notify the local authorities immediately and take cover.  Do not listen to what he/she says!  Spring starts on March 20th and you have, yet to endure, half a winter.

Watch For This
If you see anything like this, be careful, you could step into it and break your leg.  You can safely look outside beginning on March 21st hoping for spring.
