White Clematis

White Clematis
The clematis are starting to open on my street.  I photographed this white one at Kingwood Center in 2004.

I think this might be Clematis candida.  I found it for $25.00 at White Flower Farm.

Blue Flag Iris

Blue Flag Iris

Iris versicolor is also commonly known as the blue flag, harlequin blueflag, larger blue flag, northern blue flag,[1] and poison flag, plus other variations of these names,[2][3] and in Britain and Ireland as purple iris.[4]
It is a species of Iris native to North America, in the Eastern United States and Eastern Canada. It is common in sedge meadows, marshes, and along streambanks and shores. The specific epithet versicolor means "variously coloured".[5]  Wikipedia

Blue Flag Iris
I feature this flower yearly because it grows around the pond at Gorman Nature Center.  Behind the flower you see some kind of sedge and lily-pads.  I greatly enjoy seeing it each year because it is a seasonal milestone for me.

Butterbowl Peony

Butterbowl Peony
I used to find good light at Kingwood Center in the morning.  Here is an example.  The petals are fading to light pink.  The petalodes in the center are the "butter."  The blossom is reportedly fragrant.  I don't remember since I made this capture 11 years ago.

Canada Lily

Canada Lily
The only one of these I know about at Gorman is located North of the stream.  The trail along which it resides has been closed so I probably should not tell you where you can find it.  I have a photographer friend who has photographed it in the county but I don't remember where.

Canada Lily
I read on Wikipedia that it can also be orange or yellow.  I seem to understand that the spots may not be present.

I wonder if this the plant in its orange form we see along the roadsides later in the season and call Tiger Lily.
