Funny Deer Shots

White-tailed Deer
I usually carry my camera set up to photograph wildlife on the move.  Included in that setup is what I call "motor drive".  The camera shoots continuously until pressure is released from the shutter button.  What starts out as what I consider a good pose sometimes evolves into something else.  That is what happened in these shots.  I got more than one frame and the ensuing frames contained different poses by the deer.

I think that some of my grandchildren read this blog and I thought they might enjoy.

Ohio's Fabulous Fossils & Minerals

Gem, Mineral, Jewelry & Fossil Show
The above show was sponsored by The Richland Lithic and Lapidary Society and headed by Tom Kottyan.  It was held here in Mansfield at the Richland County Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday.  The show featured quality dealers, speakers, demonstrations, silent auctions and hourly door prizes.

Farrington Mastodon Skull
The above skull was discovered on the farm of Roland Farrington in Union County in 1970.  It was displayed courtesy of the Ohio Historical Society.  I found it very impressive.

Stag Moose Bones
These bones were found near Johnstown in 1985.  The lower jaw yielded a radiocarbon date of 11,500 years.

Fluorite Celestite
Tom Kottyan exhibited his collection which contains items collected over 40 years.  I don't think that I saw any from outside Ohio.  The collection is very impressive and beautiful.

Jay Medici and others also displayed many beautiful pieces.

You can get an idea of the scale of the mastodon skull from this shot.

Many quality dealers and jewelers exhibited their wares.  The Lauers, Dan and Pam were there along with many others.

I had some success in the silent auction, obtaining rough rocks for my tumbler.  I discovered that Ken Arthur, an old time acquaintance, is the president of the club.  The club did the auction.

I got help from Tom identifying a piece that I found in a stream bed.  I will discuss when I have time to photograph it.
