Tools Of Macro Photography.

Sigma 105mm Macro Lens
Many photography manufacturers build high quality equipment.  For my photography, the macro lens is central to the process.  The 105mm prime macro is an industry standard.  Some make it in 100mm version.  Many make the 105mm.  "Prime" means that the lens is not a zoom.  Prime lenses have been higher quality than zoom lens historically, though recent offerings are becoming better and better.

For my purposes, I got started with Canon Cameras and Sigma Canon Mount lenses.  I have owned two Sigma 105mm Macros.  My first fell onto a concrete floor when it was not securely fastened to the tripod.  I lost the lens and the camera in that incident.  I found the the new version with Optical Stabilization to exceed my expectations.

I own one other major macro lens, the Sigma 180mm f/2.8 Macro.  I have found to function well in photographing insects and the like.  It is also a prime and of exceeding quality and sharpness just like the 105.  I have tried it in macro photography of rocks and mineral.  I have gravitated away from its use because of its size and weight.  I stack my lenses and don't need the loss of stability inherent from its use.

The cosmos is annual in our area.  You must visit Mexico to see a perennial version.  I simple terms, you must plant seeds each year in our area.
