Small Herkimer Diamond

Small Herkimer Diamond
The other sample I showed you needed cleaning.  During the process, I dropped it in the trash barrel.  I went through the trash three times without success.  I went on eBay and bought a gram or two of them for just a little money.  This may be the best of the lot and also the smallest.  The coin on the left is a dime.  I hope to use this crystal to show how my lenses work based on the size of the subject.
The crystal is hexagonal, six sided.  It is doubly terminated, meaning it closes at each end.  It probably needs cleaning but I am afraid to do so at this time.

Giant Sunflower

Giant Sunflower
This from Gorman Nature Center September of 2005.

I love the color combination.  This is a good place to look for bees.

It is truly "giant" as you can see from this image.  I set my tripod at eye height and am looking up at the flower.
