Pasture Puffball

Pasture Puffball
I found this along the trail in the pine forest near the Visitor's Center.  I thought it an excellent opportunity to practice my focus stack technique.  I used flash.  While I was in the setup process a very nice young man came along and we chatted.  He seemed interested in what I was doing.  Somehow the conversation came around to sound recording.  He was interested in recording the sounds of various camera shutters.  He said he had just gotten together with Jeff Sprang to record his cameras.  I indicated a slight interest but have not found the time and have since forgotten how to contact him.  I showed him my Sony PCM-D50.  He said he owned a Sony PCM-D100 which I did not see.

Cacoxenite

Cacoxenite
Cacoxenite, reportedly, possesses metaphysical, healing properties.  If it were associated with a browser it would be an add-on.

Cacoxenite
I don't know the underlying material in this one but I read that it can be associated with different gems.

You can see more of Cacoxenite at mindat.org

Phillipsite

Phillipsite
(Ca,Na2,K2)3Al6Si10O32·12H2O is the formula for Phillipsite.  Wikipedia states, "The species was established by Armand Lévy in 1825 and named after William Phillips."  Mindat.org states, "The original phillipsite material was from Acireale, Etna Volcanic Complex, Catania Province, Sicily, Italy."

From my cursory reading I got the impression that Phillipsite has no industrial use.  Other minerals in the same group, Zeolite, have been used for water filtration.

Phillipsite
The little cave like opening  provides mystery.  I wondered, "What is in there?"  I, later, was able to make an image answering that question.

Phillipsite
I find the crystals interesting.
