Drew Eckert Harvests Wheat

 By the time you read this, wheat harvest will be in full swing or over.  Drew is harvesting Bearded Soft Winter Wheat with his John Deere 9670 STS Combine.

The field belongs to Gary Eckert and is located near the Mid-Ohio Race Track.

 This is a new species for me.  I am thankful to Jan Swartz, another photographer at Gorman, for telling me about its presence.

They are the pond clubtails.  Only the male has the club shape on its abdomen.  I saw a female but she was ovipositing along the pond's edge and was too active.

Jan told me of two places at which she had seen them and I found them both places.

 I drove past this facility recently.  I could see that they were prepared to accept the harvested wheat which would be arriving soon.

I sincerely enjoy this plant in the edge of pond.  I suggested it to Carrie for her pond but there was some reason they would not use it.

I was sitting next to the edge photographing insects and I saw this.  I made this capture with my insect setup including flash.  The flower was about to open.
