Flight

Mallard Drake
Many of you may know that I am fascinated with flight.  Maybe I should have been a bird!

Mallard Drake
I find much inspiration in watching them fly.  It really moves me!

Mallard Drake
I find my spirit soaring when they do.

Mallard Drake
Oh, and by-the-way, I think they like having their picture taken.

I need to apologize to my readers who have commented on the blog.  I just discovered that "Blogger" does not notify me when you comment.  I will try to think of a way to keep current.  I guess that I need to check comments every time I am here.  Thanks, again, everyone.

I received a long comment today from someone, a clloyd.  I have received email before from that person, but have written it off as phishing since it could refer to my daughter.  This one is in a foreign language which might be Korean.  I will try to get it translated.

Bridge Series: # 6-7

GNC Bridge 6-7
You can see the stream depressions (3) in this shot.

Bridge 6-7
This structure replaces the old bridges 6 and 7.  It is most pleasant to sit there on a warm spring day, of which we have experienced precious few this year.  The stream trickles beneath it singing a sweet song (look at the bottom).

This is an ongoing project.  I hope to capture more before the undergrowth and overgrowth covers it the bridges.

Bridge 6-7
This is quite an imposing structure by the standards of previous bridges.  I think that it was built by the building trades class at Mansfield Senior High.

Ammonites

Ammonites
I thought of marine crustaceans now extinct when I came to this sample.  They lived 145–66 million years ago according to Wikipedia.  That is while the dinosaurs ruled the earth.  The Dinosaurs, Ammonites and much other life died in some cataclysmic event around 65 million years ago.

Ammonites
This sample is reputedly from Morroco, Africa.  I see lots of samples of fossils for sale at shows which come from that region.

I don't know enough geology to know where the plates were at that time.  The best I could do was see that they were closer and possibly on one side of our planet.  I don't know which way they were moving.  Morocco is currently, as I am sure you know, on the west coast of Africa.  If I remember anything it is the part that was once or soon would be connected the Maine coast.

Ammonites

As I have looked at this sample and thought about it,  I think that I can see shapes which, indeed, say
"Ammonites" to me.
