Sand Dollar

Sand Dollar Dorsal
They live in the shallower parts of the sea below low tide and above 5000 ft.  The shells bleach in the sun when washed up to the color we recognize.  While alive, they are covered with maroon colored movable spines.  The above image is the upper side and the below is under side.  The opening in the center is the mouth.

Sand Dollar Pectoral
The sand dollar is found in the Northern Pacific and Northwest Atlantic oceans.  The slits and furrow correspond to the five arms of the star fish.  The Sand Dollar has been around since the 5.33 to 2.58 million years ago times.  That span of years is called the Pliocene Epoch.

Gastropod Shell

Gastropod Shell
I can envision a hermit crab walking around in this.  The original inhabitant was probably a sea snail.  I would say it had a good, solidly built, place in which to live.

The opening, called the aperture, is smooth and its size would indicate the snail was large.

The shells can be right-hand or left-hand spirals.

Peacock Ore Bornite

Peacock Ore Bornite

I obtained these samples which were in little separate bags and labeled.  It is ore of copper and is mined in open mines such as:  Escondida a copper mine in the Atacama Desert in Northern Chile.  It is currently the world's largest copper mine by reserve. The mine contained more than 32 million tonnes (Mt) of recoverable copper reserves at the end of 2012. (Wikipedia)  The shots are at 8x.

The saturated colors are a tarnish which forms on the ore, making it beautiful, in my opinion.
