Quartz with Inclusions

Quartz with Metalic Inclusion

I've been cogitating on this piece of quartz for two to three years.  I'm sure you will recognize the shots below.

I have gone the gamut trying to decide what the metal is.  For the longest time, I thought it either gold or copper.  I thought that until just the other day.  At that time I thought of using acid to test it and I did.

I used refined copper and gold jewelry on which to apply Muriatic acid, HCl.

Copper with Oxidation Caused by HCl
I used old jewelry on which to apply the same acid and observed no reaction so  I applied the acid to one of the inclusions in the quartz and observed no reaction.

Inclusion in Quartz

I decided I had gold included in my quartz.  I was viewing it as a nugget.  I had one further question which I needed to ask.  I don't remember what that question was so I will pause here and get back with you later about it.  This is decidedly not the end of the story.

Calender Price Reduction

I am planning on reducing the price of the calendar since January has already begun.  Do any of you have a suggestion as to what I should charge?  E-mail me at larry@larrysimages.com.

Cattail

Cattail
It took me a while to learn that cattail had flying seeds.  This is a picture of them.

The roots (rhizomes) are edible.  They contain starch like potatoes.  Remember this if you cannot find potatoes in the store.
