New Bridges at Gorman

Bridge 11
I discovered this one the other day.  I think that it was needed.  I wear boots so I could walk through but it was difficult to pull my cart through.

Bridge 6-7
I had noticed the tracks on the trail for some weeks.  I had never seen the tracks made and I wondered what was going on.  I finally walked down the tracks the other day and found this newly constructed bridge.  It boasts benches and three legs.  It replaces old bridges 6 and 7 so I have named it 6-7.

Bridge 6-7
This is a pano created with Samsung Galaxy S4, handheld.

False Turkey-tail

False Turkey-tail
This shot stack is the underside of the fungus looking up.  It was about 200 captures at step medium.

False Turkey-tail
This shot was a smaller stack from the top looking down.

The tree was broken off about thirty feet high and was dead.

I found this one growing on a log as I do many mushrooms.

Earthball Fungus

Earthball Fungus
I think that I finally got this right.

Camera Setup Earthball
Notice the high flash.  It was for the fill light.  The close flash, key, was on the ground with a diffuser mounted.

Earthball Another Angle
You get an entirely different impression of it from this angle.

Earthball
And this angle.

Earthball
Notice the tendrils connecting it to the food source and other fungi in the area.

Slugs like to eat this fungus.  They are the reason for the holes and scars.

Earthball Fungi
It also grows in communities.

Gorman Nature Center

Gorman Nature Center
I really liked the satiny texture of the trees bare of leaves below the trees still bearing leaves.  The light was changing and I had to wait for the light to hit the hill top.

Either I did not connect, or we did not have brilliantly colorful leaves this year.

The trees bereft of leaves in the middle ground conveniently cover a power tower in the distance.

I was born when my father was just changing from farming with horses to using tractors.  When the horse was too old to work, they turned them out to pasture.  I am grateful for this opportunity to be turned out to pasture in such a beautiful location.

This is Veteran's Day.  Thanks to all who served preserving our freedom in this beautiful place.

Eulalia Grass

Eulalia Grass
Carol did not want grass when we did our initial landscaping.  She has since come to recognize its beauty.  Chad gave me these starts.  He had thinned his.  They lay in the woods un-planted during the fall and winter and at my house, un-planted during the spring.  Somehow they lived and have become beautiful in their own right.  My neighbor, Mike did the work.

New Bathroom

Bathroom Door from Inside
Andrew and Carrie have shown no lack of imagination in their creation.  This door certainly exhibits that.  It is coated with varnish to preserve the checked paint appearance.

Bathroom Door from Outside
This bathroom has everything including bath and shower, a very roomy one I might add.

Bathroom Door Latch
Remember this kind of latch?

Bathroom Door Latch
Lavatory
Unlike the temporary kitchen setup, this is the finished product, an imaginative use of the old table.  The top is cherry.
