Bridge Three Nearing Completion

GNC Bridge Three
Bridge three  is nearing completion.  I don't know when school dismisses for the summer but I would guess the date is approaching.  It looks like maybe one more day would do it.

It is closed thus far for obvious reasons.

GNC Bridge Three
It looks well constructed and solid to me.

Carrie, et al

Carrie
I recently went to see them play soccer.  The temperature for the only game not called for weather was cold.  I was shivering by the end.  Carrie is on the phone organizing transportation for Saturday.  They had six games that day for which they had to carpool.

Reed and Carrie
Reed and Carrie, as you can see ran a 5K on April 25.  Reed finished 2nd out of a field of 400.  Carrie, had a not quite so high placing.  Please note that he is now taller than his mother.

Grandpa and Evie
I rode along to pick up the children from school on the day I arrived.

I have a picture of myself with Caleb but I can't find it.  He and his dad, Andrew, do not "love the camera."

Tiger Salamanders

Tiger Salamander?
I recently returned four of my nine to the vernal Pool.  Now, when I visit daily, I wonder if I am seeing them along with the others coming near the surface.  I really don't have a way of knowing unless I net them again and I opt not to do that.  I wonder if they recognize me.

Tree Swallows

Tree Swallow
These shots are building up in my "for blog" folder.  I like this light.

Orange Bluet

Orange Bluet Damselfly
I saw dragonflies and damselflies on Mother's Day.  They probably are not here early.  I usually go as near sunrise as I can get there and it is too cool for them.  When I visit later in the day, after the air has warmed, I see them.

The name of this damselfly has always seemed an oxymoron to me.  I have come to understand that the Bluets are a genus of Damselflies which contains a large number of species.

Turtles on Float Pano

GNC Turtles on the Float
I made this shot on Mother's Day.  It is a panorama of two shots.  Usually, the News Journal publishes a similar shot each season.

Someone asked me what kind of turtles.  I have seen Red-eared Sliders, Painted Turtles, and Snapping Turtles.  I think these are all Painted Turtles.  We used to have some larger turtles which are absent from this image.

National Museum of the United States Airforce

Carrie Lloyd and Larry Eicher
I recently visited the NMUSAF in Dayton, OH with my daughter, Carrie, who lives close.  The kids were in school so it was just us.

They have now set up the space shuttle mockup display in front of which we are standing.  I intended to photograph it but became hungry and tired so we only got this picture.

Larry Eicher
I gave Carrie a camera and while I photographed airplanes, she photographed me.

I am currently of the opinion that the lowest viewpoint is by-in-large the best way to photograph the planes.  I still shoot bracketed exposures, -4, -2, 0, +2, +4 at ISO 800.  The museum is low light with contrasty spots.  I think it requires the bracketing.

General Dynamics F-111A Ardvark
I will probably do more work on this next winter when I have time.

Larry and Wright 1909 Military Flier
The Wright Military Flier is particularly difficult because it is so open.  The museum has erected a black wall behind it which helps.

Wright 1909 Military Flier
I want to do more work on this one next winter also.

This is my 1000th post.
