Made print

Print of Flint
I decided to print this one 18x12 this morning.  As you might remember from yesterday's discussion, I did decide to knock it out.  I have matted and mounted it and am waiting for the print to gas out before I install it into a frame.  I am looking forward to hanging it in my living room.  To me the print is really striking.

I did have a little problem with blue reflections on the rock from the original blue back ground.  There is only one spot left where that is visible.  Can you find it?

I think that the next step will be to live with it for a while.

And More Flint!

flint
I hope that you are not getting tired of this rock.  I felt there was at least one more shot of this one.  There may be more, but I have not decided.  I wanted you to see the plain in front of the cliffs as well as the large cliff face with protruding fractured flint.  I don't, as yet, have Carol's reaction to this one.  I think that I like the blue.  CS5 Photomerge did not want to assemble this one.  I ran the step by step one and that was little better.  I ran the auto photomerge again and then found that it would let me move the individual frames.  I then had to do the blending manually.  I was able to eliminated an unsharp portion from one of the shots by moving it to the bottom of the layer stack.  I would have had to re-shoot the whole thing if that did not work.  Anyway, I really like this one.  I think that I have captured the color of the actual rock.  I have a color corrected lamp at my desk and I used the light from it on the rock to make the adjustments.  The problem with that process that I have found is that I need to get the rock behind the light so that I don't get reflections from the surface of the rock when I view it.  The reflections give me a different impression of the color.  I am unsure at the moment, but I may knock it out.

More Flint

Flint Panorama
This is another Flint stone I bought from Dan and Pam.  Carol did not like the sand under it.  What do you think?

I thought the blue background made it stand out.  I hope that you take a moment to look at this.

Windows Media Player Movie

"Slide" movie about Gorman Nature Center
I know that I have violated the blog rule about consistency!  Here's how it happened.  I was planning on resuming my slide shows at nursing homes last Thursday, Jan. 20th.  On Wednesday, the 19th I decided that I had better take a look at the shows to make sure they were ready to go.  I was surprised to note that they were not as ready as I thought they were and began to work feverishly on them.  I was glad when the show date for Jan. 20th fell through because I needed to continue working on the slide shows.  To make a long story short, that feverish pace continued through Fri., Sat., Sun., and Mon.  During that time I decided to make them into Windows Media Player movies so that they could be shared on the Web.  This slide show contains my photography done at Gorman Nature Center over a period of at least 5 years.  It lasts 30 minutes and has musical accompaniment by Craig Duncan.  Craig was very gracious to reply to my e-mail query regarding the use of his music.  The album is Smoky Mountain Sunrise on the Green Hill label.  I have loved this album over the years.

I hope that you enjoy the show as much as I have enjoyed creating it.

Your feed back, good or bad, will be greatly appreciated.  I try to make things the best I can and always want to improve.
